Outfit Post: Just Boots, Blues & Brains

This week has been insane - buried in work at my job, I still managed to get a few blog posts up! Currently, I'm giving myself a little pat on the back...

So is it just me or is everything super hectic right now? How is everyone else holding up?

I've been thinking a lot about fate lately - and the idea that everything has already been laid out for you. No matter what you do, fate is fate, and you can't escape it.

Personally I don't think that the idea of fate is very encouraging - no matter how hard you work, it doesn't actually make a difference, because you'll end up in the same place? A bit silly, and immature if you ask me.

However maybe its enlightening to know that your path has been paved, and you are just walking along it with each step.

What do you think? Do we all fall victim to our fates, or do we blaze our own paths?

Well, enough existential thinking...its hurting my already overworked brain. Here are my outfits shots, enjoy :)

The Details: Floral Prints & Lace

I'm loving the lace trend that is popping up everywhere. So when I found this Tucker for Target printed tunic on the clearance rack, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it: throw it over my lace dress & play peek-a-boo with the sleeves! Paired it with a chunky Moroccan style necklace from Urban Outfitters and brown riding boots. So tell me reader, what do ya think?

Trends: Boyfriend Boots

It's that time in fashion again, to steal your boyfriend's grungy style. This season? Steal his boots. The grungier the better...just don't pair with flannel (it's not 1991 anymore). They look great with floral dresses or skinnies. Add a feminine element to your outfit, otherwise you may start to look just a tad bit goth (and let's be honest, that's just not chic). Here are some of my favorites for these season:

1. Jeffrey Cambell "Somebody" Lace Up Boot ($119.95)
2. Steve Madden "Perrin" Tall Lace-Up Military Boot ($199)
3. Coach Adelaide Boot ($223.50 on sale)
4. Born Shoes, Skylark Boots ($131.25 on sale)

Trends: Scrunch Socks & Heels

If you have been looking in fashion mags, watching runways or hitting the streets of NYC or Milan, you've surely noticed a trend: scrunched crew socks & chunky heels. I am absolutely in LOVE with this style...but realize it can be hard to find the right pair of heels with the right pair of socks to make-it-work. So here are some suggestions on how to get your sock on!

Spurlge
1. Bejart Wedge by Robert Clergerie ($795 at Nordstroms)
2. Button Bootie by Francesco Morichetti ($129 at Nordstroms)

Steal
3. Voila Cut Out Heels ($26.80 at Forever21)
4. Lace Up Booties ($32.80 at Forever21)

Trends: Lace

Not sure if you've noticed, but lace is everywhere right about now. Finding a way to wear the right lace top that is chic & flattering can be an issue, especially if you don't want to squeeze into a tiny lace-lined LBD or top. Pair a light colored & flowy lace top with a long cardigan, long leggings & riding boots!

You can also try wearing a more fitted lace top with a boyfriend blazer, skinny jeans & heels. I really love the pale rose colored lace with a black jacket combo.

Trends: Riding Boots

Looking for the perfect riding boot? Look no more. I have found it, the Steve Madden gods have blessed me with these Inca boots. Bonus? They fit wider calves & have an adjustable buckle in the back. Double bonus? The mini wedge that adds a little flair to this wardrobe staple.
