OOTD: The Summer Peacock

Summer comes in a luke-warm flavor here in the Northwest.

Here in Seattle, the minute the sun peaks its head over the clouds, and it warms up to 60F degrees, outcome shorts, flip flops and t-shirts. I look around and see the stereotypical "Seattle" summer style, which includes rolled up cargo shorts, flip-flops and a loose, button-up cotton blouse. I thought I'd try and step up the typical "Seattle-summer" fashion game, with my new top, which I've lovingly named the Summer Peacock top. The best thing about this top? It will double as my go-to shirt during my trip to Tuscany in June.

Another note: My new favorite accessory is Lip Stain! The most amazing thing - a subtle pop of color that stays on all day with little maintenance. The shade I'm wearing here is Revlon's "Just Bitten" Lip Stain in "Flame."

What is your go-to summer top? The perfect airy, flowy, bright-colored top - we all have one. Post your summer go-to in the comments!

Outfit Post: Just Boots, Blues & Brains

This week has been insane - buried in work at my job, I still managed to get a few blog posts up! Currently, I'm giving myself a little pat on the back...

So is it just me or is everything super hectic right now? How is everyone else holding up?

I've been thinking a lot about fate lately - and the idea that everything has already been laid out for you. No matter what you do, fate is fate, and you can't escape it.

Personally I don't think that the idea of fate is very encouraging - no matter how hard you work, it doesn't actually make a difference, because you'll end up in the same place? A bit silly, and immature if you ask me.

However maybe its enlightening to know that your path has been paved, and you are just walking along it with each step.

What do you think? Do we all fall victim to our fates, or do we blaze our own paths?

Well, enough existential thinking...its hurting my already overworked brain. Here are my outfits shots, enjoy :)

From the Author: M.I.A. & Office Shots

I know...its been almost 3 week since I last posted. A HUGE thank you to all my readers who didn't unfollow, and those who continued commenting on older posts.

Last week I was in Baltimore & DC for work, and turns out I love the East Coast! The style over there is so effortless...everyone seems to have a distinct fashion sense & is totally comfortable in their clothes. I love it. I'm going to try and be more "east coast" from now on...simply chic :)

I have a series of pictures for you below, including some office shots! Let me know what you think about the pictures, and also tell me what sort of posts you want to see this month on the blog in general.

Trends: Sexy Strappy Leopard Heels

Are you a "heel" girl? Then these are for you. And right now, these gorgeous leopard print gladiator Glint shoes are on sale for under $50 at Nordstrom! These shoes are very pretty...and a friend who has them says they aren't very comfortable, but they are so beautiful she doesn't care.

Outfit ideas:
  • Night Out: LBD with skinny turquoise or red belt (pops of color look fabulous with leopard if not overdone)
  • Happy Hour: Dark wash skinny jeans, black tank top & black boyfriend blazer. Big gold hoops.
  • Work: These heels aren't for work, unless you are trying to seduce your boss. Save them for after 5!
How would you wear these sexy heels?

From the Author: Crazy Week & Cropped Tops

Hello lovelies...so it has been an insane week for me & I haven't had much time to post! With Christmas shopping, work deadlines & attempting to have a social life, I'm sure I'm not the only busy one towards the end of this year!

I've been seeing this new trend of cropped looser tops everywhere lately, but didn't really think I could pull it off with my body type. So I decided to take the plunge! The top is from Nordstrom, and it is a leopard print cropped, looser top. For body types like mine, I think it looks fabulous with a looser black tank underneath & black leggings, and of course, a long interesting necklace. If you have a slimmer body type, try pairing it with high waisted pants!

Thank you to everyone for their continued support & love. Tell me how you would wear the cropped trend below!

The Details: Lil' Bun, Sparkle, Sequins, Ruffles, Beads & Pins

I have been trying to snap pics of details from my outfits on most days, so here are the photos focusing on the little things: ruffles, sparkles, sequins, ruffles, beads, pins & more! I've also recently been obsessed with wearing my hair in a tiny twisted bun on the top of my head, just sort of carelessly throw up there. I had been seeing it on runways a lot, and the easiness & chic look makes it a fabulous way to do your hair in under 5 minutes!
