Trends: Messy Ballerina Bun
Lately everybody has been rocking that high-fashion super-model top-of-the-head bun. It is a chic, understated & elegant look that is effortless yet put-together simultaneously. The best part about this trendy look? It takes about 2 minutes, and is my favorite way to wear my hair on a bad hair day, or on a day where my hair isn't freshly washed (like on the way to the supermarket to pick up soup & advil after a night of partying).
This style will look differently depending on your hair type. I have thin, medium length hair. So my hair looks somewhat slicked back and my bun is pretty tiny. But if you have thicker hair, you will have a more voluminous look. If you have longer hair, your bun will be bigger. You can also tug hair around the secured band to loosen up your hair and use bobby pins to push up your hair, making a bump or just bigger hairline in general.
Here is how I make my messy ballerina bun, in less than 2 minutes:
Enjoy!
Also, I will be announcing the winner of the Xmas give away shortly, the Christmas weekend kept me busy, so I apologize to anyone who is on the edge of their seats waiting to hear about the contest :)

The Stylist: Designer DIY
Left to Right: Lanvin, Lanvin for H&M, Stuart Weitzman, Dolce&Gabbana, Valentino |
So I'm always amazed when I see great DIY fashion projects. Though I haven't actually tackled anything amazing yet...I plan to! And I've been keeping a log of gorgeous designer shoes that anyone with a hot glue gun and a little creative talent could create. These shoes are all designer, but I bet that they would be quite easy to imitate, with a pair of plain heels from Target or Charlotte Rouse & a short trip to Michael's art store! What do you think? Would you or have you made "designer DIY" shoes?

From the Author: Crazy Week & Cropped Tops
Hello lovelies...so it has been an insane week for me & I haven't had much time to post! With Christmas shopping, work deadlines & attempting to have a social life, I'm sure I'm not the only busy one towards the end of this year!
I've been seeing this new trend of cropped looser tops everywhere lately, but didn't really think I could pull it off with my body type. So I decided to take the plunge! The top is from Nordstrom, and it is a leopard print cropped, looser top. For body types like mine, I think it looks fabulous with a looser black tank underneath & black leggings, and of course, a long interesting necklace. If you have a slimmer body type, try pairing it with high waisted pants!
Thank you to everyone for their continued support & love. Tell me how you would wear the cropped trend below!
xoxo

Chic Steals: Designer-Looking Shoes
Though we all like to pretend like we can work regular adult jobs and still afford to buy dozens of designer shoes, just like Carrie of SATC...it is unrealistic. Valentino, Manolo, Prada, Lanvin and other designer shoes can run you upwards of $600 for one pair! So for Christmas this year, don't splurge your way into debt...just buy a pair like the ones above. These shoes look expensive & chic, yet you will be shocked by how low the prices are!
Can you guess how much these shoes are? No cheating! Post your guesses below, then click on the links :)

Trends: Chunky Black Heels
So I know I'm constantly running "The Stylist" post series, where I bring up the "chunky black heel" a lot. And I realized...maybe that is too vague. What if they think I mean something absolutely horrible & not chic, like these. So no more confusion! Here are a pair of chic, sexy and ultra simple chunky black heels from Urban Outfitters. These are perfect for holiday and NYE outfits, because they are sexy & simple, and you can pair them with your crazy sequined dress or little red number without looking like you are doing too much!

I've also recently been obsessed with wearing my hair in a tiny twisted bun on the top of my head, just sort of carelessly throw up there. I had been seeing it on runways a lot, and the easiness & chic look makes it a fabulous way to do your hair in under 5 minutes!
