The Details: Rihanna Prints, Blue Nails & Monday Coffee

Morning! It is Monday...again. The weekend always seems to fly by.

I have been seeing blue nail polish everywhere lately...and I had to get in on it. I purchased some gorgeous blue Butter polish from Nordstrom. My shirt is from Forever21 (plus) and I call it my "Rihanna shirt" because it reminds me of her style in the Rude Boy video (come here rude boy boy).

Let me know what you think as always!

The Details: Fuzzy Floral, Riding Boots & Pink Headband

Finally...it is Friday! And for me it is actually "Floral Friday," a trend I'm starting at the office with a coworker (which is in addition to our newly instated "Heel Wednesday").

Story 1: This fuzzy sweater, one of my favorite tops hanging in my closet, is from H&M. I found this sweater a few months ago, but it was priced at $50! It was too outrageous of a price for a top from H&M, so I passed on it (I actually posted about the sweater here). Then a month later I was browsing the sales at H&M and there it was...my meant-to-be sweater for $15! Clearly I snagged it. And that is the story of my fuzzy floral sweater.

(Short) Story 2: The headband is from the swap meet I wrote about a couple weeks ago...and definitely recommend getting together with your friends and hosting a swap party, because what is better than free & fabulous clothing/accessories?

Story 3: The boots are Steve Madden (check 'em out here). And let me just say...I love these boots! They go with everything, they are super comfortable and look good with everything from leggings to skirts to skinny jeans! A great purchase...and they have them available in tons of colors. I'm probably preaching to the choir here, everyone has these boots!

Note: I'm 5'9" with long legs, so the boots are not as tall on me as they would be on most :)
Note: Again, tall girl here, that sweater would be much longer on most!

Trends: Sequins & Booties

It has been a while since I posted an outfit...so here we go! Work has been crazy busy...as well as taking aim at having a social life, so I apologize for the sporadic blog posting! Make sure to keep sending me suggestions and questions for blog posts...I love hearing from readers & bloggers! (email me at chiccurve@gmail.com)

A friend took these photos a few weeks ago...and I just couldn't decided if I even liked them or not. However, I definitely decided that I love my sequined cropped top & gorgeous BCBG booties.

Enjoy...and let me know what you think as always :)

From the Author: Spring 2011 Fashion Week Favorites

It is that time again... Fashion Week in Paris! My favorite collections by FAR are Valentino & Lanvin. Some of the trends I see trickling down to consumer level boutiques are sheer skirts/tops/dresses, lots of gorgeous lace, bright colors & eastern style floral prints. My favorite piece that I've seen this week is the AMAZING belted red Lanvin dress...put that at H&M for $200 and I'll be camping out in line a week early to snatch  one :)

Enjoy! And tell me your favorite trends.

The Scoop: Urban Outfitters Shoe SALE

Oh no. It's happening again. A shoe sale...at Urban Outfitters. I'm talking gorgeous pumps & adorable flats for under $20. There are tons of heeled, lace-up booties available, as well as chunky heels for a night out on the town. Above are my favorite picks...thought I won't be purchasing any of them because I have a shoe addiction, and currently have at least 5 pairs of beautiful heels that I haven't even worn once since buying them.

And in addition to endless mouthwatering shoes, there are clothes & accessories on sale as well. So if you have some money to spend...now is the time check out the sale at Urban Outfitters here.

Trends: OPI Shatter Nail Polish

So when I first saw this trend popping up...I had to find out who makes this amazing nail polish & how I could get my hands on it!

OPI's Shatter nail polish can be painted over any color to give it the edgy & delicious effect you see below. Apparently it is part of the line that Katy Perry has created with OPI. I've searched & can't find a reliable source to purchase the polish...so if you know where it is available, please let me know!

The Details: Studs & Fortune Cookies

Two stories today:

1. I recently decided I wanted to find a cute flannel button-up to stud. So over the weekend, when I found an adorable rainbow flannel at Faith21 (by Forever21) I knew it was meant to be! So I moseyed on over to Michaels and picked up some iron-on studs &  permanent fabric glue and carefully glued on studs, turning my rainbow flannel into an edgy button-down. (see picture below)

2. Over the weekend I hosted a Swap Party (see the idea & description here) and invited a few friends to bring some unwanted yet fashionable items. Everyone exchanged items ranging from dresses to scarves to kitchenware to jewelry. It was a huge success, and out of my favorite items was this tiny little necklace with a fortune cookie charm on it, as well as a little circle that has "good fortune" engraved in it. Its my new favorite-little-thing! (see picture below)

Anything new happening with you? Hope everyone is having a fabulous week :)

From the Author: Hottest Trends at Golden Globes 2011

I'm sure all you fashion loving readers tuned in to the Golden Globes last night, or at least checked out who was wearing what. There are all kinds of best dressed lists out there...but I've got my own point of view.

For the most part, I agree with the best dressed lists. However, I thought Natalie Portman's Rose-embellished gown was AMAZING, and the only thing I disagreed with was her necklace...it was just too much.

Out of all the gorgeous gowns on the red carpet, there were two trends that kept popping up which I fell in love with. Pale peachy pinks & dark rich greens. Delicious.

Who was on your best dressed list? What do you think about my picks? Tell me everything.

Here is where you can find these classic pieces:

Trends: Cut-Out Wedge by Rosegold

A Fashion Adventure Story: Oh the search for the perfect nude heel/wedge. About a month ago, I went out with a very fashionable friend of mine who was rocking the beige wedges pictured above. I fell in LOVE with the shoes and was ready to shell out any amount (kinda) for a pair of my own. However, when asking where she got them...I found out she picked them up at a vintage designer shop! So I gave up.

However, I recently purchased these amazing Rosegold booties and ran across the black pair of the wedges above. I immediately recognized them...those are my DREAM shoes!!! So I searched the web to find a pair of Rosegold Shawna Wedges (in beige, of course) and I found them on Amazon...at an amazingly discounted price.

They are being shipped to me at this moment...I will definitely post them in an outfit post soon!

And apparently, celebs love this cut-out wedge. Check out 3 famous ladies rocking their pair below:

Maria Walsh (Desperate Housewives)

Whitney Port (The City/The Hills)

Tia/Tamera Mowry (Sister-Sister)

Challenge: Paying it Forward

Thanks to FATale Fashion (an amazing curvy fashion blog by a jersey girl with some SERIOUS style) I saw this post:

"Pay it forward 2011.... I promise to make something handmade for the first five people who comment. They must, in turn, post this and make something for the first five who comment on their post. The rules are that it has to be handmade by you, and they must receive it before 2011 ends."

From the Author: Hair Chop & Notions of Beauty

As a woman, you go through so much with your hair. If you spend an average of 10 minutes on your hair everyday (which is a low estimate!), then by the time you are 30 years old, you would have spent about 2,000 hours, or almost 80 days, on hair. The point I'm trying to make is that in our culture, we OBSESS over our hair.

I have always wanted to cut my hair short, but have had long, flowing hair since I was a little girl. In Western culture & media, we are taught that long, somewhat straight hair is beautiful. And that was truly engraved into me all my life. I always felt that if my hair wasn't long, and wasn't down, I wasn't beautiful. And I never realized this until I was talking about it with a good friend of mine, who has always wanted me to cut my hair short. And I've always wanted to chop my hair as well...but talked myself out of it every time.

So right before the new year...I just decided to do it. Why let my hair define me? No matter how short, how frizzy, how crazy and wild my hair gets...I'm going to make it fabulous. And as I read on another fashion blog, "Life is too short not to be stylish."

So if there is something you've been wanting to try...with your hair...or anything...but some silly stigma is holding you back, do it! It is a new year...own it!

Trends: Studded Booties

There is a studded-heaven...and your foot can find it by slipping into these gorgeous Rosegold boots. These are on sale at BlueFly.com for $177 (about 40% off) but there is one size life and I can't find them ANYWHERE. The fact that I would shell out almost $200 for a pair of booties means that these are absolutely amazing. If I can't find them around, I might think about doing a DIY project & making my own  version!

Bonus points to anyone who can find me these boots online in a size 10 :)

The Stylist: The Perfect Purple Dress

I might have found the near-perfect purple dress from Dorothy Perkins (10pounds). The pleating, the color, the sleeves and the pockets...gorgeous. I will admit, this dress will not flatter all body types. It would look amazing on an hour-glass or pear shaped body, might not work for apple however.

How to wear this plum piece? Pair it with opaque black tights & black chunky heels. Possible gold bangles, hair worn simply. This dress needs to be the center of attention, and necklaces will detract from the beautiful detail. You might be able to pair it with a thin, very simple black belt across the waist.

What do you think? How would you style this piece?

The Stylist: The ASOS Curve Sale

So I'm cruising along my usual internet sites and I see it...in big bold letters...ASOS Sale: Final Reductions! Oh man. I have had my eye of a few pieces from the ASOS Curve collection for a while, but haven't actually taken the leap and purchased them yet. So when I saw that those beloved Jasmine pants were on sale for about $20...and then a gorgeous Faux Fur cropped jacket was only $30...I tried to keep it together.

Needless to say, I am very satisfied with my purchases, and if you have been eyeing anything on ASOS lately, now is the time to go check & see if it is on sale. Plus, shipping is FREE anywhere in the U.S. so there is no excuse!

What will 2011 bring you? What will it bring the world of fashion? Every time new years comes around, we send off the year with a bang and wipe our slate clean, starting fresh & recharged with positivity. That is my favorite part about the start of the new year. Everyone has hope, motivation & excitement for everything the year will bring.

For me, the new year brings a new haircut, a trip to Europe, a new office in the heart of downtown Seattle, a new apartment and new adventures with old friends. And boy did I send 2010 off with love...and with amazing friends...and fabulous shoes! Check out my New Years Eve outfit below...and post a link to yours if you have it up online somewhere!
