As a woman, you go through so much with your hair. If you spend an average of 10 minutes on your hair everyday (which is a low estimate!), then by the time you are 30 years old, you would have spent about 2,000 hours, or almost 80 days, on hair. The point I'm trying to make is that in our culture, we OBSESS over our hair.
I have always wanted to cut my hair short, but have had long, flowing hair since I was a little girl. In Western culture & media, we are taught that long, somewhat straight hair is
beautiful. And that was truly engraved into me all my life. I always felt that if my hair wasn't long, and wasn't down, I wasn't beautiful. And I never realized this until I was talking about it with a good friend of mine, who has
always wanted me to cut my hair short. And I've always wanted to chop my hair as well...but talked myself out of it every time.
So right before the new year...I just decided to do it. Why let my hair define me? No matter how short, how frizzy, how crazy and wild my hair gets...I'm going to make it fabulous. And as I read on another fashion blog, "Life is too short not to be stylish."
So if there is something you've been wanting to try...with your hair...or anything...but some silly stigma is holding you back, do it! It is a new year...own it!
